So, we're onto May with Jethro Tull-inspired Songs from the Wood....

July with Royal Sunset....

And August rounds off the update with Perseid meteor...

The club catch-up to beat all club catch-ups!

Mortified to discover how long it is since I last blogged! Well, not strictly true as I've been burning the metaphoric blogging candle at both ends trying to keep both this blog and my OCA degree blog running simultaneously - quite the challenge as I have discovered! And it has to be confessed that the OCA blog has had to take precedent as it counts towards my degree. So, forgive me if this is a rapid canter through the clubs for the last few months......

We had Robin Red-Breast in December (yes, December)

Star Coral in January

Magpie for February....

Moving swiftly on to March we had Ochre....

April brought the Kaffe Fassett inspired Where it all Began (my colour hero!)....

Part two to follow.....

Starry night!

November's clubs were inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's famous painting, the Starry Night.

I have to confess it has taken me a long time to come to terms with Vincent Van Gogh and see his work with less jaded eyes. Not because I don't like it - I find it amazing now. Unfortunately, I had a long-term arrangement with Mr V G's work in the shape of Mrs Reid's English class. Week after week I sat in the same classroom faced by the same poster (not even a print!) whilst learning the joys of English Literature. Many the hour I spent staring deep into that poster willing all my carefully memorised but frustratingly elusive quotes to resurface and leap onto my exam papers. I shudder at the memory even now.....

But enough reminiscing, I'm long since past all that (no permanent trauma at all, honest!) and now I can enjoy a lovely VVG as much as the next man. And I'm glad really, as they are such beautiful, intense colours with amazing swirling shapes and textures.

So, if you're still with me, thank you, and here are this month's clubs, inspired by The Starry Night...
Bluefaced Leicester and sparkly trilobal nylon roving for Roving Medley members,

BFL/trilobal nylon, twirly soft kid mohair fleece and lustrous Wensleydale roving for Fibre Adventure members,

And for Sock Club members I had a bit of extra fun dyeing two cakes of yarn in matching shades, dipping, rolling and syringing colour onto some beautiful merino/nylon softspun sock yarn.

(I got an A in English Lit. and English Language btw, in case you were wondering!)

September's club colourway was inspired by late summers, sitting on a warm porch, enjoying a glass of wine/Pimms* (*insert drink of choice here!)

Falkland roving

Lusciously curly and lustrous Leicester Longwool, Baby Camel/Silk and Falkland roving

And our exclusive Alpaca/Nylon sock yarn

Clubs - August - Agave

August's colourway was Agave, inspired by some of the amazing plants at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

The sock club this month was our lovely High Twist Superwash Merino/Nylon. The twist in this yarn is particularly pretty and makes the springiest, squooshiest socks!

For Roving Medley members I chose a Norwegian roving which took the colour beautifully.

Fibre Adventure Club this month was a lovely selection of Norwegian roving, Shetland fleece and silk hankies - plenty of scope for texture and blending!

July clubs - Bladderwrack

Not quite sure what happened to June club photos - if anyone has a photo of their parcel, do send one in!

Moving on swiftly then to July and we are now on countdown to our annual holiday to Cornwall. Resisting the urge to do a sandcastle colourway (!) I found this photo of some bladderwrack in last year's holiday snaps and I thought the colours were just great. (I think this will be on its way to my pinterest account when I next get round to dusting it off and updating it).

This was the photo in question.....

And the colourway for the Roving Medley club....
Whitefaced Woodland roving

And superwash merino/nylon sock yarn for Sock Club members...

Now, where's my bucket and spade?....
