Washing - fleece this time!

As you know I have been scouring the UK for interesting fibres for the Fibre Adventure club, so no surprise that today had me scouring, but this time literally. Up to my elbows in hot, soapy water and greasy fleece.

Now, I can hear some of you groaning at the very thought of it, but I find it strangely satisfying. When you hold a fleece straight off the sheep, it has so much promise. You can feel that a fabulous fibre is bursting to get out from under all that grease and grime. And as the rinse water swills away all the dark brown muck, I love to see those soft, lush locks emerge, all creamy-white and beautiful.

It's like the ugly duckling turning into the swan. When it's dry, I'll post some pics.

OOH sounds wonderfully satisfying :-)

I wonder if it's as much fun to shampoo a whole sheep in time for a Livestock Show?

Hmm, not sure I could manage a "live one", I had enough problems shampooing our poorly guinea pig! At least fleece doesn't try to escape!
