Art for Health and Wellbeing - The Exhibition

 Good news - I passed the Arts for Health and Wellbeing: Becoming a Practitioner course! 20 points towards an MA nicely in the bag :-) (Only 100 more to go!)

There's more about my pieces on my OCA blog, but I wanted to share some of the work of my fellow students here as it's just awesome :-)

It was fantastic working with such a great bunch of people, so thank you to everyone, including all our wonderful tutors, Bolton University and the course sponsors, Bolton Primary Care Trust, Bolton Council and Bolton at Home.

We're hoping to keep in touch as a group so there may be more exhibitions to come. Watch this space....

Punx Inna Jungle - Part I

 

Had forgotten about this!

Harking back to earlier this year, a great event at a fab venue - Antwerp Mansion - quirky, eccentric and unique.
 


Not one for the squishy sofa and soft lighting lover, but plenty of grungy good atmosphere. A hiccup with the venue's liquor licence meant we had to turn up with carrier bags of alcohol - haven't done that in a while!

Our destination band was Sonic Boom Six but we also took in sets from Old Radio, Colt 45, Captain Hotknives, Revenge of the Psychotronic Man and Faintest Idea. The band pics aren't great but you get the gist.

As well as music, the venue also runs arts,  film and other great events. All funds are used to help restore this great building, a hidden gem in the centre of Rusholme, so keep an eye out for upcoming events. (Oh, for the artists out there you can also hire the venue or exhibit your work there).

Physics SGS style...

After a hard year's AS level physics, the students put their learning into practice.....

And this year's Year 12 Physics Challenge was to build a trebuchet or similar and see which team could launch a projectile the greatest distance. I'm not sure that the team were going for distance so much as artistic merit, but I hereby give you (cue drum roll)

I do think that it's crucial for students to learn practical applications for their subjects don't you?....

July clubs - Bladderwrack

 Not quite sure what happened to June club photos - if anyone has a photo of their parcel, do send one in!

Moving on swiftly then to July and we are now on countdown to our annual holiday to Cornwall. Resisting the urge to do a sandcastle colourway (!) I found this photo of some bladderwrack in last year's holiday snaps and I thought the colours were just great. (I think this will be on its way to my pinterest account when I next get round to dusting it off and updating it).

Rainbow!

Thought I'd share these photos of a rainbow we spotted on our travels in Salford.

The difference in sky colour makes it look like there's a force field over the buildings!
